The GM-47716-30A adapts the previously essential GM-47716 Vac-N-Fill to the male quick-connect fitting on the charge air cooling system in the Cadillac CTS with LF3 engine and 2016 vehicles with engine RPOs LT4 and LGW. In 2016, the valve core engine fitting is now 3 mm longer. Using the previously essential GM-47716-30 Adapter (gold-colored collar) will damage the valve. The updated connector has a shorter valve depressor.
The GM-47716-UPD is a connector update kit that was automatically sent out to GM dealers to retrofit their GM-47716-30 into the GM-47716-30A. The GM-47716-30A new connector features a green collar to distinguish it from the GM-47716-30 connector, and a gold collar to clearly indicate that an update has been made and to avoid confusion at the dealership. The updated adapter will work to depress the valves on both the old and new charge air cooling system connectors.
The Vac-N-Fill can then be used to evacuate all air from the charge air cooling system, to avoid pump noise and loss of cooling system performance. The adapter is also used with the previously essential GM-24460-B Radiator Pressure Tester hand pump and GM-47716-8 Vac-N-Fill Cap to pressure test the system for leaks before beginning the fill procedure.
