Corvette V8s (both 7.0L and Supercharged 6.2L) have a unique main bearing cap bolt spacing, and currently, Essential GM-41818 will not fit. GM-49102 fits both the new and current spacing and will back-service all Gen V8 engines (4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.2L, 7.0L) from 1997, replacing GM-41818. The legs of GM-49102 are inserted into the main bearing cap and tightened into the cap bores. A slide hammer (GM-23907-1) is attached to GM-49102 and used to remove the cap from the block. The bearing cap must be removed straight away from the crankshaft to prevent damage to the crankshaft, the block, or the cap itself.
