The Delphi SIDI injector retaining clip must be installed without over-spreading the clip, to ensure proper retention of the injector to the rail. GM-51097 is a pliers-type tool to fit into the injector clip, and limit the amount of spread during both removal and installation. For removal, GM-51097 fits between the clip and the injector, and opens the clip to remove it from the assembly. For installation, a clip is placed into GM-51097, spread, and placed over the injector. GM-51097 is closed and removed from the injector rail assembly. Unapproved methods may damage the clip, resulting in less than desired retention. Used with GM-49245.
