The bolts used to attach the cap to the connecting rod are a thread not used on any other GM engine. GM-50034 contains two guide rods, which are threaded into the connecting rod, and used to guide the rod onto the crankshaft journal. The guides must be used to prevent nicking or scratching the crankshaft journal or connecting rod bearing surfaces.
