Pressure-regulated compressed air is used to diagnose the solenoid operation of the LOMA on Gen V engines. The air pressure is regulated to 30 psi by GM-46999 to prevent overpressurization and damage to the solenoid. GM-46999, in its original application, required a minor quick-connect feature to connect to a machined air adapter attached to the GEN IV Loma. Gen V engine LOMAs can be tested using a rubber-tipped blow gun and do not require a machined air adapter. GM-46999-18 allows the use of a technician's rubber-tipped blow gun by connecting the end of the regulated output hose to a 1/4" NPT-M fitting. Each tech can attach the quick-connect fitting style used in their shop to this fitting and use their own existing blow gun.
