GM-52287-7 Adapter allows the use of GM-52287 to hold the balancer when removing or installing the balancer bolt. Using GM-52287 and GM-52287-7 allows for on-vehicle service without the need to remove the starter to install the flywheel holder, thereby reducing the time required for the repair. The LTA balancer does not have a bolt pattern that allows existing tools to attach to the balancer. GM-52287-7 engages in the casting voids in the balancer to hold it, while GM-52287 is locked against the vehicle cradle to allow the bolt to be removed or installed.
