The flywheel must be held in order to service the balancer and flywheel bolts. The torque required for the balancer bolt is 150 lb-ft + 180 degrees, and holding the flywheel and crankshaft is critical to reaching this specification. GM-50792 installs in place of the starter and engages the flywheel ring gear teeth to keep the flywheel and crankshaft in service. Using unapproved methods may result in incorrect fastener tightening or damage to the flywheel.
