More engines have the accessory belt tensioner removed, requiring a "stretchy" belt that must be installed onto its pulleys with the balancer and components already installed on the engine. During installation, the belt must be guided into the pulley grooves without being over-stretched, and without catching on any obstructions that may be present at the front of the pulley. GM-51767 will fit multiple pulleys and engine families, allowing for use across a broader range of applications. To install, the belt is placed onto one pulley of the system, and the GM-51767 installer and the other end of the belt are started onto the other pulley. The pulley with the belt installed is turned, and the GM-51767-A installer guides the belt around the other pulley for installation. GM-51767 also includes a length of webbing to assist in removing the existing belt. Unapproved methods will damage the belt or the pulley.
