The 6L80 transmission in the 2006 Corvette and XLR does not have the standard long fill tube and fluid level dipstick. There is a short fill tube, but restricted access on certain vehicles prevents filling using standard methods. Filling is accomplished through a threaded hole in the bottom of the pan. Attached to the inside of the pan is a stand tube that controls the fluid level. GM-47784 is an adapter with a gasket that is threaded into the pan. The hose end of the previously essential GM-45096-30 TransFlow Flush Adapter is then connected to the tube end of GM-47784. The TransFlow is then used to fill the pan with fluid. When GM-47784 is removed, fluid drains out until the level in the pan equals the height of the stand tube. The 6L80 and 6L90 in trucks have a conventional long-length style fill tube, which is accessible from the engine compartment.
