The mounting studs to attach the transmission are installed and tightened to a specific torque. Installation using the "double-nut" method will make it difficult to reach the correct torque. GM-49308 installs the stud and allows it to be correctly torqued. The bolt on GM-49308 can then be backed off to allow GM-49308 to be removed without backing out the stud.
