Service of the Eaton 6-speed manual transmission requires access to both the front and rear of the transmission simultaneously for several procedures. The unit is disassembled and reassembled in a vertical position. The existing service fixture GM-47678 for Aisin and Tremec manual transmissions fits around the transmission body but does not align with the bell housing pattern.  Chevrolet or GMC-Cadillac dealers who already have GM-47678 can modify their existing fixture using the GM-47678-20 template.  GM-47678-A holds the transmission around its center of gravity and mounts into existing GM-03289-20 bench mounts, allowing full-service access to all parts of the transmission.  GM-47678-A allows repair to be done with the transmission horizontal or vertical, as directed by SI.
