GM-50924 and GM-8001 dial indicators are installed on the input shaft, hand-tight , and zeroed. The clutch pack rotor is then turned, moving up the apply cam, and the dial indicator re-read. The total travel of the rotor is used to determine the shim required. Using an incorrect shim can lead to clutch damage.
