GM-51983 is an input shaft seal installer used to install the input shaft seal into the through bore of the case to a predetermined depth to align with the weep hole of the case. Installation of the seal to an incorrect depth in the case will lead to seal damage and prohibit the proper drainage of fluid in the event the seal fails. The seal installer is used in conjunction with the driver handle GM-42176.
