GM-51466 is a double-sided tool that installs the input shaft seal into the main housing of the PTU, as well as installs the IDS shaft seal into the right-side cover. The input seals are installed to a specific depth to ensure the case half drain/weep hole is not blocked or restricted. The input seal for the PTU is a double-lip type seal.
DT‑51466 installs both the input seal and the IDS cassette-type seal. GM-51466 is used with the GM-42176 driver handle. Unapproved methods may damage the seals or fail to properly install them, resulting in less than the designed seal life.
