GM-52083 is a dual-purpose tool that removes the bearing from the oil pump drive gear and installs the gear and new bearing assembly onto the center support. For removal, the gear is supported by the previously essential tool GM-44412 as the DT‑52083‑1 presses it out of the bearing. After GM-52082 has installed the new bearing into the oil pump drive gear, GM-52083 installs the oil pump drive gear and bearing assembly onto the transmission front support. DT‑52083-2 is a pilot that fits into the front support hub ID to pre-align the gear and bearing as they contact the lead OD edge of the support hub. GM-52083-1 now becomes the driver that contacts the bearing inner race to install it over the hub OD of the center support.
