| The 4th
speed driven gear is pressed onto the main shaft approximately 30 cm (12 in.)
from the end of the shaft, and has a high interference fit, with very little
clearance under the gear. In order to remove the gear for unit repair, a
puller must overcome the press load, the length of pull, and the limited clearance.
GM-51075 puller legs fit under the gear and are used with either
GM-22888-20A or GM-8433-1 pullers to pull the gear against the end of the shaft. In order to prevent slipping and causing gear damage, GM-51075 includes
a collar to hold the ends of the legs engaged around the gear. |
