The 12345-piston design in the 9T50 transmission has been updated, necessitating an adapter for the previously essential GM-47797 Spring Compressor. The adapter fits onto the end of GM-47797, allowing the piston return spring to be compressed while simultaneously pushing down on the retaining ring to snap it into the internal groove in the clutch housing. An arbor or hydraulic press is required to perform this procedure.
