GM-52316 is a 2¾ in. octagon steel socket that securely fits around the high-pressure oil filter cap. The plastic cap must be tightened to 60Nm. The cap external octagon has a taper, and this taper, combined with the torque requirement, does not allow the use of a standard axle wheel nut socket. The tool is used with a 1/2 in. square drive ratchet or breaker bar for removal and a torque wrench for installation.
