GM-52090 is a lifting bar used in conjunction with the brass jaws and two long bolts from a previously essential inline tool (GM-45053). It allows for the controlled and safe lifting of the rotating clutch, gear, and shaft shell assembly in and out of the transmission case, as well as placement on a workbench for disassembly and service. The brass jaws clamp onto the input shaft, lifting the entire shell and shaft assembly. The assembly features planetary gear sets and several clutch assemblies, weighing 76 lbs. DT‑52090 has a lifting eye built in, so an engine floor crane can be used to lift the complete assembly.
