The fuel systems on some 2016 vehicles, including ones with Stop/Start technology, will have a digital output S.E.N.T. (Single Edge Nibble Transmission) fuel rail pressure sensor. In addition, GM Stop/Start systems have a secondary circuit that must be energized to crank the engine and build fuel pressure in the fuel rail for AFIT SIDI tests. Due to the D-to-A signal conversion requirement of the SENT transducer, a software update alone will not work, and a new piece of hardware is needed to convert the fuel pressure digital signal coming from the transducer into an analog signal, which the AFIT can interpret and use for fuel system performance analysis and test results.
The GM-47976-507 SENT Adapter accomplishes the necessary signal conversion. However, the ECM pin to which the SENT signal is routed is not included in the previously essential GM-47976-502A Cable. The GM-47976-513 G2c Adapter, featuring internal active circuits, enables the GM-47976-502A G2A Cable to be used on vehicles equipped with SENT fuel pressure transducers and also adapts for vehicles containing Stop/Start technology. With the GM-47976-513 Adapter connected to the GM-47976-502A Cable and, in turn, connected to the AFIT DMU modified with the GM-47976-507 SENT Adapter, vehicles with SENT systems on both standard and Stop/Start vehicles can be tested.
